In response to a request to increase the pharmacy technician-to-pharmacist ratio from 3:1 to 8:1 in pharmacies that do not dispense prescriptions, the Board of Pharmacy agreed to schedule the issue for consideration at a workshop meeting on Thursday, September 6 in Reno.

The Board of Pharmacy will be meeting in Reno on Wednesday and Thursday, June 6 and 7. Two public hearings—related to prescription readers and practitioner access to the Prescription Monitoring Program database and related to prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances for treatment of pain—will also be held on Thursday, June 7.

On April 18, Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) convened the second meeting of his Opioid State Action Accountability Task Force. Numerous stakeholders, including the Board of Pharmacy, provided status reports on prescriber education and guidelines, treatment options and third-party payers, data collection and sharing and criminal justice investigations.
