The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) sent its fourth issuance of Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) benefits to households with eligible school-age children. A one-time payment of $120 to purchase groceries will be issued for each eligible child, intended to cover the three summer months at $40 a month. Summer EBT benefits can be used to purchase food at grocery stores, online food retailers and farmer’s markets that accept SNAP EBT.

The Department of Health and Human Services published Provider Bulletin 25-10: Pharmacy Dispensing Fee Increase. Effective July 1, all pharmacies who fill a prescription for a Medicaid Fee-for-Service member will receive a professional dispensing fee rate increase from $10.38 to $10.50. Independent pharmacies, defined as those who own six or fewer pharmacies, who fill a prescription for a Medicaid managed care member will receive a professional dispensing fee rate increase from $10.38 to $10.50. 

Also in Nebraska, the Department of Health and Human Services published Provider Bulletin 25-09: Changes to the Nebraska Medicaid Preferred Drug List (PDL) effective July 18.

A confirmed measles case in Sheridan County has been reported to the Department of Health and Human Services. The patient is an appropriately vaccinated child with no out-of-state travel history. This is the first confirmed case reported this year.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) is seeking individuals to serve on the Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC). The MAC has a broad focus and includes a diverse range of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community organizations, advocates and policy experts. The MAC advises the Medicaid agency on overall policy development and program improvements. Jim Pillen (R) signed LB 168, the 340B Contract Pharmacy Protection Act, legislation prohibiting any manufacturer from either directly or indirectly, denying, restricting, or prohibiting the acquisition of any 340B drug by or delivery of any 340B drug to any authorized 340B location.

Gov. Jim Pillen (R) signed LB 118, legislation increasing the pharmacist-to-pharmacy technician ratio to permit a pharmacist to supervise any combination of pharmacy technicians and pharmacist interns up to four people. For any pharmacist supervising four pharmacy technicians or pharmacist interns, at least one person must be a certified pharmacy technician.

Also in Nebraska, starting on June 1, Medicaid will no longer accept paper applications for Medicaid provider enrollment. All enrollments can be completed electronically at Maximus’ Nebraska Provider Data Management System  (PDMS) website. For more information about Maximus’ PDMS, call 844-374-5022 or email at nebraskamedicaidPSE@maximus.com. Also in Nebraska, on March 19, the Department of Health and Human Services updated provider Bulletin 24-22: Coverage of Interpretation Services.

Finally in Nebraska, the Department of Insurance (NDOI) released a PBM-specific complaint form for reporting concerns. The form is reflective of what is in the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Licensure and Regulation Act that was passed in 2022. There is also a free text space for complaints that do not fall into those statutes. It is important to fill out this form completely and then send it to the NDOI via email or mail as follows:
