The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, in addition to recognizing pharmacists as providers and reimbursing them for their services, is proposing a rule to reimburse pharmacists who provide professional services within a defined scope of practice authority or under a statewide standing order during a public health emergency. The rule would also increase dispensing fee rates and increase the drug acquisition cost if there is a shortage.
