The Department of Health and Human Services announced it would scrap its proposal. NACDS strongly supported the proposal and is engaging with in-state partners about potential next steps.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed into law HB 4412 (Act No. 123, Public Acts of 2019), effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020, prohibiting the sale of over-the-counter medicines containing the ingredient dextromethorphan to minors.
Also in Michigan…NACDS and the Michigan Retailers Association participated in a Board of Pharmacy Rules Committee Work Group meeting on November 15, where pharmacy technician draft language was discussed. NACDS also submitted written comments.

The Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is proposing to transition all pharmacy drug coverage to Medicaid fee-for-service effective Sunday, December 1. Comments are due to MDHHS by Monday, November 4.

The Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) will hold its Pharmacy Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, September 17. Registration is available online through Tuesday, September 10. The Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has scheduled a Naloxone Day on September 14. Naloxone will be made available at no cost to anonymous recipients who present themselves at pharmacies that have obtained standing orders from the Chief Medical Executive or a Michigan licensed physician.
